It’s been several years since I have thanked our community for being such a wonderful support system for my son Lucas. Many of you know Lucas as the friendly guy who gathers carts at Walmart.

I just want to let all the great folks in our community know what a huge part all of you have played in making Lucas a successful member of Durango.

The public transportation drivers always make sure he gets to work each day and then all of his co-workers greet him with open arms and watch over him while he works. Adaptive sports gives him the opportunity to be a great athlete as they do for so many of our special folks here in Durango.

I have always been told that John and I are responsible for bringing Lucas up in a strong, positive home, but to be honest, we could not have done this without all of you helping Lucas prosper. My hat is off to each and every one who make Lucas a proud and happy young man.
