Lost doggerel; missing a favorite bar

Durango has lost “The Lost Dog,” never to be found,

not even if we all look in the pound.

No more lunches and dinners to be found,

if you had kids they were free to run around.

Our sincere thanks to our energetic Ann Morse,

who has always kept the restaurant on its course.

All the local art work that was displayed on her wall,

I’m hoping those artists got many a call.

And now that the holidays are fast approaching,

there will be no parties for “The Lost Dog” to be hosting.

If only that out-of-town landlord had not thrust his sharp sword,

we might continue to eat, drink and be merry,

while the children would not have to sit and act bored.

Perhaps if he lived in this wonderful place,

his decision would not have been made with such haste.

To have the rug pulled from right under your feet,

I personally can attest that it is no such treat.

So we say our good-byes to Ann and the bar,

and I know for me it will leave a big scar.

We wish her all the best for any new endeavor,

and good health, wealth and happiness forever.

Thank you, Ann! We will miss you!
