Herald coverage of county entertaining

Thanks again to the Herald for keeping the entertainment on a grand scale. A couple weeks past, the Airport Commission, through its minion, complained that having to tax more for a new, moved terminal was due to losing oil and gas money and it is cheaper to drive to Denver, Grand Junction and Albuquerque than to be taxed at Durango-La Plata County Airport. Then, in a week or so, supposedly more than 2,000 people saw an air show at the south end of the field. From 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., I counted 82 cars leaving the intersection of County Roads 309A and 309.

“How stupid do they think we are?” I was asked by several real citizens of La Plata County at a funeral I attended of a friend. Then a hug and snuggle story about one of our Alinsky leaders followed in about a week, saying how great her life was and great things completed including fighting oil and gas across the United States, but making the San Juan area a green “Michelle” spot. Again, how do locals pay for transient owners that don’t like gold?
