Lots of pride

The 6th annual 4 Corners Pride Festival is in full swing. The five-day celebration, put on by Four Corners Alliance for Diversity, began Wednesday with a screening of the documentary “I Stand Corrected,” about Jennifer Leitham, a jazz bassist who transitioned from male to female.

Thursday night drew a large crowd of members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and straight communities. Events will continue through the weekend.

A Dance Party will be held at 9 p.m. Friday at Animas City Theatre, 128 E. College Drive. The DJ will be Cowboy Buddah.

At 11 a.m. Saturday, there will be a Parade on the Animas River Trail. The high water this year prompted organizers to play it safe and turn the float into a trail parade. Afterward, festival-goers can gather in Rotary Park for a picnic.

An After-Party party will be held at 5 p.m. at 6512’, 156 E. College Drive.

On Sunday, there will be worship services at two churches that are welcoming congregations. At 8:45 and 11 a.m., services are held at St. Mark’s Episcopal, 910 East Third Ave., and at 10 a.m. at Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 419 San Juan Drive.
