A little river music

Looking for a way to help the Animas River and see three great bands at the same time? The Animas City Theatre has you covered with its Music for the Animas Concert Series featuring Head for the Hills, Kitchen Dwellers and Liver Down the River.

Doors will open at 8 p.m., with the show running from 9 p.m.-12:30 a.m. Saturday at the Animas City Theatre, 128 E. College Dr.

Tickets for this 18 and older show are $15 and are available at Southwest Sound, www.durangomassive.com and www.animascitytheatre.com.

All profits will be donated to Mountain Studies Institute to support the cleanup of the Animas River.

‘Big Fish’ opens at Henry Strater Theatre

Durango Performing Arts Co. will put on their musical production “Big Fish.” It is the story of traveling salesman Edward Bloom and his son Will, who is determined to uncover the truth behind all of his father’s tall tales.

The story is based on the original novel by Daniel Wallace and the film directed by Tim Burton.

This is an all-ages show.

Show times are 7 p.m. Friday and two shows Saturday 12:30 and 6:30 p.m. The company will also be perform Nov. 13, 14 and 20.

Tickets are $10 for children, seniors and students with I.D. and $12 for adults.

Put on your boogie shoes

BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet will be bringing Cajun sound to the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Since 1975, the Grammy Award-winning band has taken elements of zydeco, New Orleans jazz, Tex-Mex, country, blues and more and rolled them into a sound that has audiences jumping out of their seats. Oh, and the dance floor will be open at the Concert Hall.
