Flags will be lowered to honor fallen Colorado trooper

Jursevics

Gov. John Hickenlooper on Friday ordered flags be lowered to half-staff Monday in memory of a Colorado state trooper who was killed in an accident.

Trooper Jaimie Jursevics was assisting with a crash investigation Sunday when she was struck and killed by a suspected drunken driver.

Hickenlooper ordered flags lowered on all public buildings statewide from sunrise to sunset.

“Jursevics proudly and honorably served Colorado for nearly five years,” states a news release from the governor’s office. “Upon graduation from the Colorado State Patrol academy, she was assigned to the Patrol’s Vail post. In September of 2014, she transferred to the Castle Rock troop office.”

Jursevics is survived by her husband and daughter.

The public is welcome to attend services, which will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Denver First Church, 3800 E. Hampden Ave., Englewood.

The order to fly flags at half-staff for Trooper Jursevics comes shortly after President Barack Obama ordered flags lowered to half-staff on all public buildings in memory of the victims of last week’s Paris terrorist attacks. Flags were lowered through sunset Thursday.
