Catch Janowsky at the Diamond Belle

So New Year’s Eve has come and gone, and chances are you spent the vast majority of New Year’s Day recovering. Now, for those of you ready to peel yourselves off the couch and haul your sorry carcasses downtown, Andy Janowsky is waiting to play for you at the Diamond Belle Saloon, 699 Main Ave.

A longtime fixture on the local music scene and founding member of the band the High Rollers, Janowsky will entertain you with his own blend of country music.

So sit back, relax, have a waitress scare up a drink from the bar – if you’re ready – and don’t forget your cowboy boots.

The music will start at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

For more information, call 375-7150.

The key words here are ‘free’ and ‘books’

There aren’t many places left in the world where you can get something for free. Especially something that can grow your mind, get you thinking and, if you’re lucky, take you on a grand adventure where you will meet characters you may never forget.

From noon-5 p.m. Sunday, Durango Book Rescue will be giving away thousands (thousands!) of books – remember them? – that don’t require batteries or a screen. You can take your free book, go grab a coffee and maybe get lost in the pages (real paper pages! That smell really, really good, especially the old ones! Uh huh!) for a good long while.

The books will be waiting for you at 923 Narrow Gauge Ave.
