Champs check; party coming Tuesday

Bayfield will turn out Tuesday to celebrate the 2015 Bayfield High School football team, which completed a perfect 12-0 season with a 28-20 win in the Colorado High School Activities Association Class 2A State Football Championship on Saturday against Platte Valley in Kersey. It is the second football state championship in school history.

First the win, then the fun.

All of Bayfield is encouraged to don purple and gold for a community celebration Tuesday to honor the Bayfield High School Class 2A State Football Champions.

The team finished with a perfect 12-0 season Saturday in Kersey after beating Platte Valley High School 28-20.

Festivities will begin with a parade at 2 p.m. on Mill Street, followed up with a spirit line at the main doors of BHS afterward leading into a pep rally at 3 p.m. in the school’s Gymnasium, Principal Leon Hanhardt said.

Admission to the BHS girls basketball opener, set to begin at 4:30 p.m., will be free.

Classes for the day will be over at 1:35 p.m., and students will be released to attend the parade, Hanhardt said.

Transportation will be offered from the high school to the parade and back.

State champion spirit wear will be available at a later date.

Go Wolverines!
