Durango Chamber of Commerce holds annual award ceremony Jan. 21

Event will be at the FLC Community Concert Hall

Finalists were announced Tuesday for the Durango Chamber of Commerce’s “Durango Rocks” annual awards ceremony on Jan. 21.

Three finalists were announced for each of seven categories that honor local businesses, nonprofit organizations, young professionals and volunteers.

“It’s kind of like the Academy Awards for Durango,” Chamber Manager Rita Simon said. “We get about 400 or 500 attending, so it’s our biggest event.”

This year’s event will be held at the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College.

Simon said a presentation will be made for each nominee with photos illustrating how they have contributed to the community.

Tickets are available for $30 at the Durango Chamber of Commerce offices in Santa Rita Park, at the Community Concert Hall Box Office located at The Welcome Center at 802 Maine Avenue, by visiting www.durangobusiness.org, calling 247-0312.
