Durangoan cast on new Disney show

Joza

Maybe you’ll be able to say you knew him when.

Pearce Joza, the son of Peter Joza and Nancy Heleno, has been taking a shot at show biz for the past couple of years.

Last week, he was cast as one of four principal characters on a new Disney-HD show called “MECH-X4” that the network calls a “serialized live-action adventure saga.”

In “MECH-X4,” a young man is able to control technology with his mind, awakening a 120-foot robot built to defend his town. Pearce, who also has appeared on the channel’s show “Lab Rats” and an educational film, “How to Beat a Bully,” plays the quirky friend, Spyder.

Production on the series is underway in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and is scheduled to premiere in the fall.

Pearce, 13, attended Mountain Middle School, which his mother helped found, before heading off to the bright lights.

He lives in Durango between auditions and filming.
