Fort Lewis College point guard Joshua Blaylock named RMAC Offensive Player of the Week

Skyhawks point guard is RMAC’s Offensive Player of the Week
Fort Lewis College guard Joshua Blaylock had a sensational weekend in South Dakota and was awarded as the RMAC Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.

Fort Lewis College’s Joshua Blaylock had an impressive weekend in South Dakota, and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference took notice.

The Skyhawks’ point guard scored 59 points in the weekend’s two wins against South Dakota School of Mines and Black Hills State. For his efforts, the RMAC named Blaylock the Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.

The junior transfer student has been rock solid for first-year head coach Bob Pietrack, who called Blaylock’s Saturday performance “incredible” after battling dehydration the night before. Friday night, Blaylock scored 37 points while playing 43 minutes for the Skyhawks in Rapid City. In the middle of the night, he was taken to the hospital to get IV’s and came back to score 22 in Saturday’s win in Spearfish against Black Hills State.

At 19-3, Fort Lewis is off to its best start in school history and Blaylock is a big reason why. He leads the team and is seventh in the conference averaging 17.1 points per game. He is second in the conference in minutes played and has been on the court 70 minutes more than any of the other Skyhawks throughout the season. He also leads the team in 3-pointers (58), free throws (79), field goals made (120) and is one of the best defenders on Pietrack’s stingy bunch.

Blaylock and the Skyhawks have won seven consecutive games and hope to make it eight at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Whalen Gymnasium against Western State.
