Contribute to excellent Hillcrest grooming

The grooming for Nordic skiing at Hillcrest Golf Course has brought our wonderful community even closer together.

I witnessed a selfless act of an elderly skier skiing with a shovel and no poles. He was covering the grass showing through on the trails. When I thanked him, he smiled and said that he just loved to ski and the price was right so he wanted it to last as long as possible!

I, for one, have enjoyed using the groomed trails so close to town. Hillcrest is not a city funded entity, but a nonprofit, that is funded by golfers. It turns out they desperately need help purchasing a new snowmobile in order to continue the excellent grooming.

They have installed donation boxes, but unfortunately these donations minimally cover gas, man hours for grooming and maintenance.

So if you have enjoyed the delightful in-town skiing, please make a donation. These pledges can be specifically earmarked for the snowmobile.

Donation checks can be made payable to Hillcrest Golf Club with snowmobile noted on the memo line and placed in the donation boxes or sent to Hillcrest Golf Club PO Box 2393, Durango, CO 81302.
