One of two northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 500 near Bondad Hill will be closed until Tuesday because of a rockslide Sunday morning, a Colorado Department of Transportation spokeswoman said.
There is still one southbound and one northbound lane open on Highway 550 near mile marker 5, said CDOT spokeswoman Nancy Shanks, but crews have moved debris that fell Sunday morning off into the inside lane closest to the hill.
Because Monday is a federal holiday, Shanks said CDOT crews won’t be able to break up and haul the rocks until Tuesday. She said motorists should expect alternating-lane closures on Tuesday during the afternoon.
The road closure is properly marked, Shanks said, and she has not heard of any damage caused by the rockslide.
