Fort Lewis College music professor Kerry Ginger was involved in a prominent southwestern musical group awarded a Grammy on Monday.

Musical conductor Charles Bruffy accepted his third Grammy for the Chandos Records release, “Rachmaninoff: All-night Vigil,” which received the award for Best Choral Performance. Ginger contributed vocals to the recording as part of the Phoenix Chorale.

Ginger, a mezzo soprano, also gave a choral performance with True Concord Voices & Orchestra, formerly known as Tucson Chamber Artists, for the Grammy-nominated “Far in the Heavens: Choral Music of Stephen Paulus.” The recording was True Concord’s first internationally released CD.

A performer and instructor, Ginger received the Arizona National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Artist Award recital competition in 2008, and she is slated to participate in multiple local musical festivals and recitals, including the 2016 Durango Bach Festival and 2016 Music in the Mountains.

Last year, Ginger performed with the Carnegie Hall Chamber Chorus and the Santa Fe Desert Chorale.

She received a nomination for the 2010 AriZoni Theater Award for stage work in Italian composer Gioachino Rossini’s “La Cenerentola,” an interpretation of Cinderella.

Ginger could not be reached Monday for comment.

The 58th annual Grammy ceremony, which recognizes achievements in music and the recording arts, was held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
