Ignacio boys baseball puts up 19 runs in win over Cedaredge

Runs come in bunches

The Ignacio High School boys baseball team had a nice bounce-back victory over Cedaredge on Saturday morning as part of the Ignacio Invitational Tournament.

The Bobcats (1-2) put on a hitting clinic, pounding out the victory over the Bruins (3-2) by a score of 19-9.

Anthony Manzanares went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with four runs scored and three runs batted in. He also was hit by a pitch.

Tucker Ward got the win in three innings pitched. He allowed two hits and only one earned run. He walked zero batters and struck out eight. At the plate, Ward went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs.

Cedaredge got on the board in the first inning when Chris Lindley scored on a one-out single by Tre LaBossiere. After that, it was all Ignacio. The Bobcats scored three runs in the first and three more runs in the second inning. In the third inning, Ignacio added five more runs to put the game out of reach.

Kruz Pardo went 2-for-3 with four runs and three RBIs, and Austin McCaw also went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and three stolen bases.

LaBossiere got the loss for Cedaredge. He allowed seven hits, 11 runs and struck out five batters. LaBossiere didn’t help Cedaredge’s cause by hitting three Ignacio batters, which turned into runs.

Ignacio will return to the diamond April 1 at home against Center.
