Ignacio girls soccer scores in loss to Ridgway

Oberly gets goal on assist from Archuleta
Ignacio’s Namichen Oberly (13) scored the only goal for the Bobcats against Ridgway on Friday afternoon. It was Ignacio’s first goal of the season.

The Ignacio High School girls soccer team found itself tied at 1-all at halftime after scoring its first goal of the season.

The Ridgway Demons, however, proved to be too strong and scored four second-half goals to win 5-1.

Ignacio’s Namichen Oberly scored in the 37th minute on a lob pass from Tori Archuleta. Ridgway (3-2-1, 2-2-1 3A Region 5 League) opened the game with a score in the second minute from Elle Martin.

The Ignacio (0-6, 0-6) defense held Ridgway to 0-for-12 from corner kicks. Lanie Webb was in goal for Ignacio in place of Gibran Silva and finished the game with 22 saves.

Ridgway received two goals from Emma Haaland and one each from Faith Kinne and Sarah Pankow in the second half.

Ignacio will be back in action on the road at 11 a.m. Saturday against Telluride, weather permitting.
