Steamworks Brewing Co. to reopen Thursday in downtown Durango

Restaurant closed April 4 for renovations
Workmen with Durango Plastering and Drywall prepare and apply stucco to the exterior of Steamworks Brewing Co. on Monday. The restaurant at Eighth Street and East Second Avenue is reopening Thursday.

Steamworks Brewing Co. will reopen Thursday after being closed for renovations since April 4.

“We’re excited for our patrons to enjoy the new renovations,” said Steamworks co-founder Kris Oyler. “We certainly didn’t want to close, but our contractor, FCI, did a stellar job of keeping the construction moving along and on schedule. It was 19 business days from start to finish, and with all that was done, that’s an amazing construction schedule.”

The workers remodeled the entry area, pushing the hostess station deeper into the restaurant to allow for a larger waiting area. The new hostess station is also now equipped for to-go and growler order payment. This eliminates the need for a to-go check to be paid at the bar.

The remodel also included removal of the small stage in the bar and creation of a new retail area, with no net loss of tables.

“Our two main goals are to allow for more customers waiting for tables to be inside, off the sidewalk, and improve the efficiency of the kitchen,” said co-founder Brian McEachron.

This was the final phase of the remodeling project that started last fall.
