Fort Lewis College Choir, directed by Charissa Chiaravalloti, sings in the Student Union following this year’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day March of Solidarity. Fifty members of four choral groups at the college will travel to Europe to perform.

Fifty members of four student choral groups at Fort Lewis College are headed to Europe in May to perform at venues in Italy and Austria.

The concert, a cappella, men’s and chamber choirs will be in Europe May 5-15. They will arrive in Rome and fly home from Munich, Germany.

Among the performance sites are the Pantheon in Rome and St. Mark’s Cathedral in Venice where the choral groups will take part in a church service, They also will sing in Assisi and Bologna in Italy and in Salzburg and Innsbruck in Austria.

They perform in an all-black outfit.

Charissa Chiaravalloti, director of choral activities at FLC, is working through Tour Resource Consultants, which specializes in musical group travel.

Students are paying their own way, which will run about $3,400 each, Chiaravalloti said. Donations have helped reduce the burden on students, she said.

Donations are gratefully accepted, she said. Contributors may donate via www.fortlewis.edu/music. Then press the donate button.
