Diplomacy. (Wednesday only) As the Allies march toward Paris in summer 1944, Hitler gives orders that the French capital should not fall into enemy hands, or if it does, then “only as a field of rubble.” The person assigned to carry out this barbaric act is Wehrmacht commander of Greater Paris, General Dietrich von Choltitz, who already has mines planted on the Eiffel Tower, in the Louvre and Notre Dame and on the bridges over the Seine. Nothing should be left as a reminder of the city’s former glory. However, at dawn on Aug. 25, Swedish Consul General Raoul Nordling steals into German headquarters through a secret underground tunnel and starts a tension-filled game of cat and mouse as Nordling tries to persuade Choltitz to abandon his plan. Not rated.

Wild. After years of reckless behavior, a heroin addiction and the destruction of her marriage, Cheryl Strayed (Reese Witherspoon) makes a rash decision. Haunted by memories of her mother Bobbi (Laura Dern) and with absolutely no experience, she sets out to hike more than a thousand miles on the Pacific Crest Trail all on her own. Rated R.

The Theory of Everything. Eddie Redmayne (Les Misérables) is theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking, world-famous as the author of A Brief History of Time. Rated PG-13.

Into the Woods. A humorous and heartfelt musical that follows the classic tales of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk and Rapunzel – all tied together by an original story involving a baker and his wife, their wish to begin a family and their interaction with the witch who has put a curse on them. Rated PG.

The Gambler. Jim Bennett (Mark Wahlberg) is an English professor and a high-stakes gambler. He bets it all when he borrows from a gangster (Michael Kenneth Williams) and offers his own life as collateral. Rated R.

Unbroken. An epic drama that follows the incredible life of Olympian and war hero Louis “Louie” Zamperini (Jack O’Connell) who, along with two other crewmen, survived in a raft for 47 days after a near-fatal plane crash in WWII – only to be caught by the Japanese Navy and sent to a prisoner-of-war camp. Rated PG-13.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. Bilbo and Company are forced into a war against an armed flock of combatants and the terrifying Smaug to keep the dragon from acquiring a kingdom of treasure and obliterating all of Middle-Earth. Rated PG-13.

Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb. Get ready for the wildest and most adventure-filled “Night at the Museum” ever as Larry (Ben Stiller) spans the globe, uniting favorite and new characters while embarking on an epic quest to save the magic before it is gone forever. Rated PG.

Annie. Quvenzhané Wallis stars as Annie, a young, happy foster kid who’s also tough enough to make her way on the streets of New York in 2014. Originally left by her parents as a baby with the promise that they’d be back for her someday, it’s been a hard knock life ever since with her mean foster mom Miss Hannigan (Cameron Diaz). But everything’s about to change when tycoon and New York mayoral candidate Will Stacks (Jamie Foxx) makes a thinly-veiled campaign move and takes her in. Rated PG.

Exodus: Gods and Kings. Director Ridley Scott brings new life to the story of the defiant leader Moses (Christian Bale) as he rises up against the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses (Joel Edgerton), setting 600,000 slaves on a monumental journey of escape from Egypt and its terrifying cycle of deadly plagues. Rated PG-13.

The Penguins of Madagascar. Audiences will discover the secrets of the most entertainingly mysterious birds in the global espionage game. Skipper, Kowalski, Rico and Private now must join forces with the chic spy organization the North Wind, led by Agent Classified, to stop the cunning villain Dr. Octavius Brine from taking over the world. Rated PG.

Mockingjay Part I. Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has survived the Hunger Games twice. But now that she’s made it out of the bloody arena alive, she’s still not safe. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge. Who do they think should pay for the unrest? Katniss. And what’s worse, President Snow has made it clear that no one else is safe, either. Rated PG-13.

Animas City Theatre

Rosewater. This film follows Tehran-born Maziar Bahari, a broadcast journalist with Canadian citizenship. In 2009, Bahari returned to Iran to interview Mir-Hossein Mousavi, who was the prime challenger to president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. As Mousavi’s supporters rose up to protest Ahmadinejad’s victory declaration hours before the polls closed, Bahari endured personal risk by sending footage of the street riots to the BBC. He was arrested, led by a man identifying himself only as “Rosewater,” who tortured and interrogated him over the next 118 days. Rated R.
