Bramley, White honored, men finish 10th

The Fort Lewis College men’s and women’s cross country teams had some impressive finishes Saturday at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships in Spearfish, S.D.

Two Skyhawks, Becca Bramley and Emily White, earned All-RMAC Second Team honors with their times as they led the FLC women to a sixth-place finish.

Bramley’s 21st-place run of 23:42 was best for the Skyhawks, while White was close behind in 27th place with a time of 23:51. Erin Renner followed up in 24:06 for 31st.

Emily Bryant (24:36) finished in 45th, Cassandra Porter (25:28) was 64th and Madison Obernesser was 65th in 25:30. Carly Wilborn’s 26:23 run gave her 79th place.

Adams State won the women’s RMAC title with Western State finishing second and CSU-Pueblo taking third. Jenna Thurman of Adams State, won the individual title with a winning time of 22:06.

The Skyhawks men finished 10th out of the RMAC’s 15 teams. They were led by a 29th-place finish from sophomore Hosava Kretzmann, who finished in 26 minutes, 24.75 seconds. Garrett Sapakoff (27:32) was 58th for FLC, Sylas Schutt (27:52) finished 61st, William Scoggins (28:19) was 77th and Michael Walker (28:24) crossed in 79th. Ray Todoroff’s 110th-place finish and 111th from Brandon Sheard capped off the men’s scoring.

Colorado Mines won the program’s first ever team title with a dominant performance that saw five Orediggers finish in the top six. Adams State’s Sydney Gidabuday won the race in 25:16 and led the Grizzlies to second place overall.

Volleyball

Westminster 3, Fort Lewis 1

VolleyballThe Skyhawks volleyball team dropped its sixth consecutive match Saturday, a 3-1 loss at Westminster.

The Griffins (4-17, 2-10 RMAC) took the first set 25-17, but FLC tied it 1-1 with a 25-21 second set win. Westminster got a crucial third set 25-23 before closing out the match with a 25-17 victory.

Hannah Martinez led the Skyhawks (4-16, 3-9 RMAC) with 12 kills, while Bailey Longacre had nine and Hannah Hargrove finished with eight. Kendra Swackenberg had 39 assists for FLC and Martinez also led with 20 digs.
