Trump reflects disgust with usual politics

Denton May (Letters, Herald, May 18) asks how did the Republicans end up with Trump, and he blames the Republican party itself. For myself, it’s an entirely different reason.

One, even the career Republicans running their own party don’t want him as their choice. Somebody who has their own party afraid of him can’t be all bad, as the Republican Party doesn’t seem to be any different than the Democratic Party, where it is business as usual buying votes to get bills passed, corporations paying the politicians in one way or another.

Has there ever been a bill passed yet that wasn’t full of pork? Pork is just another word for bribe. No bill should ever have something put into it that has no bearing on the bill itself.

Second, and probably the most mind-changing reason on my part, was watching the Democratic protesters at a Republican campaign rally, where they don’t have any business being anyway. I thought Democrats were the people who believed in free speech. After watching the protesters, that is a fallacy. Trump haters seemed to show up after Trump announced his running for presidency.

People know Trump never came out with racists remarks before, but after campaign speeches, all of a sudden people act like they know how Trump thinks. Trump does need to work on his thinking before he speaks, but for me, it has worked more recently as you can’t say he’s trying to say what he thinks Americans want to hear. I wasn’t for Trump at first, but it’s what people are seeing in the news at what happens at a Trump campaign. They think if the other side hates Trump so much, then he can’t be that bad.

Politics needs a major shake-up, and this looks like the time to do it. To say that it’s the Republican Party that is trying to get Trump elected is ludicrous. It’s the rest of America that is tired of politics as usual. And finally, thanks, liberal Trump haters. You guys made it all possible.
