Accept the facts about climate change

Jerry Modisette’s letter (Herald, May 24) contains a significant number of errors. There was a time when climate change deniers said there wasn’t even proof that the average global temperature was getting warmer. Almost all of them now admit that the temperature is going up (rapidly), but they now challenge the notion that this is caused by human activity.

Apparently, Modisette hasn’t caught up with this yet. In any case, it is a scientific fact that temperatures are rising. It is a fact that carbon dioxide levels are rising because of burning of hydrocarbons. It is a fact that CO2 is a greenhouse gas.

But some people want to believe so badly that we don’t have human-caused climate change that they will not accept the facts! Hopefully, our politicians won’t be among those people.
