Space on Main Avenue to close in November
Bob Zahner with Open Shutter Gallery displays a photograph of Townes Van Zandt playing in Silverton. Open Shutter has announced that it will close its retail space on Nov. 30.

Open Shutter Gallery will close its retail space on Nov. 30, it announced in a release.

For 15 years, the gallery has been a fine-arts photography presence in downtown Durango. The business will head in a new direction, including new opportunities for owner Margy Dudley.

“Margy is ready to retire and to focus on her own photography,” said Arista Slater-Sandoval, gallery manager.

Slater-Sandoval said the gallery will have an online presence, offering items for sale and representing selected artists.

In its final months, the gallery will continue to show new exhibits, including: Beth Moon, July 15-Sept. 14; Holly Roberts, Sept. 16-Nov. 30; and in the Red Room: Jeremy Wade Schockley, Paul Boyer, Margy Dudley and Ilze Aviks.
