Moon over Animas Valley

The “Super Moon” rises over the Animas Valley late Sunday evening as seen from Hesperus Hill. It was unusually large because its perigee, the point when the moon is closest to Earth, occurred about an hour apart from the full moon. The exact time of the full moon was Sunday at 5:32 a.m., so in Southwest Colorado, the moon appeared about as full Saturday evening as it did Sunday evening.
