A few comments on the letter “Why should we have to pay to vote?” written by Steve Doob (Herald, June 20).

Does Mr. Doob have any sense of social responsibility? If he does not think that it’s worth spending 47 cents for a stamp to exercise one of the greatest rights of citizenship, perhaps he should not vote.

He obviously does not understand how the system works.
