Champagne will work to keep us all safe

My kids are 4, 7 and pure magic. I love watching them grow up, and I spend most of my days ignoring the fact that some adults would hurt them. I can’t stomach it. I need to trust that the district attorney is working hard to make Durango’s legal system so tight that criminals are discouraged from living here. For me, that person is Christian Champagne.

I’ve had the opportunity to sit down with Christian and talk to him about his service to our community as assistant district attorney for the past nine years. As he told stories of the victims he’s helped recover while prosecuting their attackers, I saw a man filled with such genuine passion for his work that I was humbled.

As we spoke, he watched his own daughter with the protective gaze of a father who knows he has to make this world a safer place for her to grow up in. I saw eyes so full of empathy that I knew I could trust that his motivations to be district attorney are pure, his dedication complete and his effectiveness guaranteed.

If you haven’t had a chance to meet Christian, I recommend it. You’ll be glad to know that he’s on your team – working tirelessly every day to make our community safe and strong.
