We need apartments, not more hotels

I am wondering why more and more new motels and hotels are opening in Durango. We need more apartments, condos, dollar stores that help to make it here, or fast food places. Instead we get more motels and hotels.

We already have a ton of them. We don’t need any more. What if tourism heads south, especially since the Environmental Protection Agency sent toxic sludge down our river? The city planners are setting Durango up to be a tourist city only and that is not what most locals want.

We need affordable places to live and shop at and not high priced stores or hotels.
