Great-grandfather Mick Jagger is expecting his eighth child

Mick Jagger’s representatives say the rock legend is expecting his eighth child. The representatives confirmed a report by People magazine and other media outlets that Jagger’s girlfriend, Melanie Hamrick, 29, is pregnant.

Mick Jagger is about to become a dad. Again.

A publicist for the 72-year-old rocker confirmed to Billboard magazine that the current girlfriend of the Rolling Stones frontman – 29 year-old American ballerina Melanie Hamrick – is pregnant. The child will be Jagger’s eighth. Jagger has seven other children, from four previous relationships. According to the Sun tabloid, which first reported the news, Hamrick is more than three months pregnant.

Let’s deconstruct the Jagger family tree a bit. Jagger’s seven children range in age from 45 to 17. He has five grandchildren, and in 2014 became a great-grandfather when his then-21-year-old granddaughter, Assisi Jackson (daughter of Jade Jagger) gave birth to a baby girl.

Still with us? Complicating things further, Jade herself was pregnant at the same time, giving birth to a baby boy just one month after she became a grandmother at age 42. Feel free to take a moment and reread that last paragraph.

Jagger’s granddaughter, Assisi, is 24 – just five years younger than his girlfriend Hamrick. Jagger began dating Hamrick after the 2014 suicide of his longtime partner, fashion designer L’Wren Scott. Hamrick has been a member of the American Ballet Theatre’s corps de ballet since 2004.

Right now you’re probably asking yourself: What exactly will be the relation between the new baby Jagger and Jagger’s great-granddaughter, who turned two in May? Great-great-uncle (or aunt)?

All this is likely old hat for the “Satisfaction” singer, who’s in good company. Just six weeks ago, Jagger’s bandmate, 69 year-old Ronnie Wood, and his third wife announced the birth of twin girls.
