McKnight would be great for the county

I have had the pleasure of knowing and working with Lyle McKnight most of my life. He is a honest, smart, hard-working man who grew up in La Plata County. He truly cares about the people of this community.

As a fourth-generation McKnight kid growing up in the north Animas Valley, Lyle has been working since the day he could walk. Lyle worked in the family business with his dad and three older brothers, moving mobile homes. Lyle was fortunate enough to wash dishes at the Bar D Chuckwagon and worked at Tellas gas station on Main Avenue. He worked the entire time he was attending Fort Lewis College and San Juan College.

Lyle and his wife, Tonya, owned and operated the Fun Center motorcycle shop in Durango. They employed hundreds of people in their 23 years in business. He understands that good, well-paying jobs depend on having a healthy and strong local economy. Lyle has experienced firsthand how difficult it has become to start and run a business in La Plata County. He also understands that our county is facing serious financial challenges.

With McKnight’s leadership, I believe our county will be in good, stable, trusting hands. Lyle McKnight will be a great county commissioner.
