Dave Peters’ letter to the editor (Herald, Aug. 1) was to the point and made the case for why Gwen Lachelt and Julie Westendorff have to go. Peters referred to the conflicts of interest in their alliance with special interest groups.

This information has been published in several front-range publications and copies of this information were forwarded the Herald a month ago.

It’s worth noting that the progressives like Josh Joswick, Wally White and now Julie Westendorff elected to represent District 3 have never won the outright vote in that district. In essence, the city of Durango has two county commissioners watching out for their interests while Bayfield and Ignacio residents are on the outside looking in.
