Condition of woman injured in ATV crash near Silverton improves

Two others die on family outing

A man and a woman involved in an all-terrain vehicle crash earlier this week north of Silverton were in “serious” condition Friday, said a spokeswoman at St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood.

That is an upgrade for LaNita Adkinson, 51, who was listed in “critical” condition Thursday.

Adkinson and her husband, Gary Adkinson, 53, of Garrison, Texas, were on an ATV on Tuesday when they experienced a transmission problem and attempted to coast down Corkscrew Pass. The brakes failed, and the vehicle went 75 feet off a road and down an embankment into Cement Creek, according to the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office.

Their son, Bryson Adkinson, 26, and son-in-law, Ryan King, 35, of Nacogdoches, Texas, died at the scene.

KLTV Channel 7 in Tyler, Texas, reported King was a pastor at Holly Springs Baptist Church in Texas.
