Share Wildcat concerns with the EPA

Wildcat Mining has been under the watchful eye of the Division of Reclamation and Mining Safety for close to a decade now.

However, Wildcat has now ruined a beautiful wetland pond, destroyed Little Deadwood Gulch, created portals, carved roads, moved an entire mill, built bridges and oh, not to forget two sediment ponds located directly above the La Plata River! All done with total disregard for the mining permit process.

The Environmental Protection Agency is finally involved after water has been tainted and now flowing directly into the La Plata River.

As many of you know, the La Plata River has a bifurcation that fills Lake Durango. Guess who drinks the water out of Lake Durango? That would be Durango West I, Durango West 2, Rafter J. and Shenandoah subdivisions. The river has many private wells along it as well.

I encourage you to please take a moment to voice your concern to the EPA about the pollution flowing into the water supply.

Hopefully, we can avoid another massive spill like that on the Animas.
