Photo: Silverton remembers its Wild West days

Former San Juan County, Colorado, sheriffs Sue Kurtz and Scot Jackson pose by the historical marker honoring Town Marshal Clate Ogsbury, who was killed in a shootout with members of the Ike Stockton Gang on Aug. 24, 1881, 135 years ago this week. The marker was unveiled by Mayor Chris Tookey at noon on Wednesday before about two dozen participants. The marker is at the corner of 11th and Greene streets in Silverton, where the Diamond Saloon once stood.
