Driver in Bayfield rollover critical; all passengers released

All passengers released

The driver of the vehicle that rolled over on U.S. Highway 160 near Bayfield remained in critical condition late Tuesday, and his two passengers have been officially released from treatment.

Frances Taylor, 23, is still in the intensive care unit at St. Anthony hospital in Lakewood after the Monday incident, a spokeswoman confirmed.

Taylor, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle after he lost control, hit a speed sign and reflector post, and went off the opposite side of the road.

The two passengers – Tomas Cruz-Villalobos, 23, and Rebecca Carter, 38, both of Durango – were wearing seat belts, and sustained moderate injuries.

Carter was released from Mercy Regional Medical Center on Monday, and Cruz-Villalobos was released Tuesday.
