Fewer than 20 customers remain without natural gas service after a major outage in Durango affected more than 550 residents and businesses on Tuesday, an Atmos Energy spokesman said.
Darwin Winfield said as of 10 a.m. Thursday, about 20 customers remained without gas service, but he expected that number to dwindle throughout the day.
Atmos crews tagged the doors of the remaining customers without service with phone numbers, and it asked them to call Atmos to schedule a time the company can come out to restore service.
For two days, Atmos worked to restore service from south of east Fifth Street to 21st Street between Camino del Rio and East Fourth Avenue after a contract crew hit a gas line on Tuesday.
The outage affected many downtown businesses, many of which were forced to close or alter operations until service was restored.
Winfield said as of Thursday, Atmos crews were back to normal on their operating schedule of replacing and updating its infrastructure throughout the city.
