‘Tipping a Glass to O Henry’ presented Tuesday at FLC

“Tipping a Glass to O. Henry” will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Durango Arts Center. The performance highlights the author’s colorful life and combines that with one of his stories exemplifying the wit and wisdom of the quintessential O. Henry.

Actor and Fort Lewis College Theatre Department Chair Dennis Elkins has created an evening’s entertainment of storytelling based on one of over 500 short stories attributed to the author, William Sydney Porter.

Elkins holds a PhD in theatre from the University of Colorado, an MA in Speech and Theatre from the University of Tennessee and a BA from Milligan College. He is a certified Associate Teacher of Fitzmaurice Voicework and a member of Actors’ Equity Association.

Elkins’ acting credits include productions with the Clarence Brown Company, the Colorado Shakespeare Festival, the Utah Shakespearean Festival, Single Carrot Theatre and Thingamajig Theatre Company in Pagosa Springs, Colorado (Red, Lend Me a Tenor, A Few Good Men).

The public is invited to the performance with a suggested donation at the door.
