Park Elementary School counselor tops in the state

It started as a regular work day, but Stephanie Trudeaux went home with fresh flowers and an award naming her the Colorado Elementary School Counselor of the Year.

Trudeaux works with about 500 students and their families at Park Elementary School. She was honored by the Colorado School Counselor Association, which represents 1,500 counselors across the state, for developing a comprehensive school counseling program that provides education, prevention and intervention services. The award noted her response to the challenges presented by Park’s diverse student population.

“Stephanie knows that counselors are in a prime position to support the kids and issues that they bring to school,” said Sallie Kautter, the counselor at Needham Elementary School and regional representative for the association, “and she does the job perfectly.”
