Comprehensive plan workshop set for Wednesday

City consultant Michael Lauer in August explains the goals of a revision of the Comprehensive Plan that will guide growth in Durango. The public is invited to weigh in on the plan at a workshop on Wednesday.

The city of Durango seeks public input on its future at a workshop scheduled for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.

Workshop participants’ recommendations will be used to help update Durango’s 2007 Comprehensive Plan, which will guide public and private growth decisions through 2040. The city’s Comprehensive Plan project team will provide a brief status report on the update to the Comprehensive Plan, and participants will discuss potential changes to the plan’s directives.

The discussions will focus on:

Development patterns in three distinct growth scenarios that were developed from residents’ input at the August community forums.Potential changes in growth policies affecting new development, in-fill and redevelopment along the city’s arterial street corridors.Key issues and potential policies for the new Arts and Culture element of the Plan.Other concerns from residents about the need for change or preservation within the city and its planning area.Visit DurangoPlanUpdate.org for more information about the planning process.
