Seed protection and mandala event Saturday

The Southwest Seed Library will be among many organizations sponsoring the Local Seed Protection and Mandala Event. A mandala, a ritual Sanskrit symbol, and an information booth will be established at the Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. A later gathering to establish a deeper collective involvement with local seeds will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. at Brookside Park.
The Local Seed Protection and Mandala Event in solidarity with a global movement will take place Saturday by Southwest Seed Library and Organic Parks Durango for awareness.
The focus is to celebrate and explore our ancestral relationship, natural rights and responsibilities with seeds. It is a solidarity movement with Protección Ancestral Semillas in Ecuador, bringing awareness to the GMO seed industry’s influence on government policies that adversely affect our sharing and saving of seeds.

The local organic parks movement will be celebrated. There will be a mandala, a ritual Sanskrit symbol, and an information booth at the Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday followed by a gathering for deeper collective involvement at Brookside Park from 1 to 2 p.m.

Bring regional or saved seeds to create a mandala (all seeds will be returned). Share in song, discussion and collective intention for restoration of our natural rights with seeds and healthy parks. Visit http://protectancientseeds.weebly.com/ for more information.
