Fort Lewis football ready for non-conference with Western New Mexico

Dre Cortez and the Fort Lewis College football defense will look to put on a show and get the Skyhawks’ first home win of the season at noon Saturday against Western New Mexico. It is the first non-conference game of the season for FLC (1-6, 1-6 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference), though the Mustangs are no strangers to RMAC play. Western N.M. (2-5) was in the RMAC for years, and this is the Mustangs’ first season in the Lone Star Conference. FLC is 0-4 at home this season despite holding fourth-quarter leads in three of those games. Despite having one of the top defenses in the league and two of the top five running backs, FLC is 10th in the standings in front of only New Mexico Highlands.
