The ballot, which is subject to change, includes one incumbent, Tribal Council member Mel Baker, in addition to Marjorie Borst, Matthew Box, Joycelyn Peabody Dutchie, Byron Frost, Kevin Frost, Estelle Monte, Adam Red, Howard Richards, Sr., Shane Seibel and Tara Vigil.

Some have competed for a Tribal Council seat in years past, including Borst, a tribal elder, and Kevin Frost, who both ran unsuccessfully last year against three other candidates for two open seats.

Box, Borst, Dutchie and Richards have held council seats in years past.

Candidates could not be reached for comment.

Seven members comprise the council, including the chairman. A tribal government spokesman said Councilor James M. Olguin is not seeking re-election.

The number of terms is unlimited, and elections are staggered over three years.

Tribal members have until 5 p.m. Wednesday to register to vote or request an absentee ballot.

Polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 4 at the Sun Ute Community Center, 290 Mouache Drive, Ignacio.
