Study, stay open and, most of all, vote

Having personally watched presidential, state and local candidate forums and debates, I feel compelled to express the importance of voting in this election. Some may make up their minds based on only one issue, like abortion. It is an issue in need of more wide-ranging solutions like simplified adoption, contraception and elimination of late-term abortions and a pragmatic effort toward resolution.

We, as voters, cannot allow government an all-or-nothing approach on the important issues we face. So, I watched and listened to the candidates, the content of their words and the feel of their character.

There were those who advocated doing less while not espousing well-thought-out proposals of their own. There were also those who simply ranted the party line, while others were unable to answer even the simplest of questions. This all leads to the importance of studying our candidates, being open to a wide range of solutions and not getting stuck in party politics.

We are at a huge turning point that will decide, most importantly, the quality of the world that future generations will inherit. So get informed, get unbiased views on the internet and retain an open mind so that you truly understand the relationship between the candidates and the views and issues they are promoting.

The importance of being educated and part of the election process is critical, and voting is the only option.
