Woman hit by pickup in downtown Bayfield

BAYFIELD – A 43-year-old woman was injured Friday morning when she was struck by a pickup truck after she got out of the vehicle on Mill Street.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was taken to Mercy Regional Medical Center with a broken leg and bruises, Bayfield Marshal Joe McIntyre said.

A two-block section of Mill Street in downtown Bayfield was shut down all morning and into the afternoon as the Marshal’s Office investigated.

The woman was getting out of a 1999 Chevy Silverado when the driver, a 31-year-old man, began to back up to leave and ran over her.

The incident happened at 7:53 a.m. on the 100 block of West Mill Street, according to a news release from the Marshal’s Office.

Names are being withheld pending further investigation.
