Library to present Spanish story time
The Durango Public Library will hold Spanish story time at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Storytime Room of the library.

Teresa Castanon Fry and Micah Fry will read stories in Spanish to children and their families.

Author to sign her book at Maria's Bookshop
Kaya McLaren, author of On the Divinity of Second Chances, will sign copies of her book from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Maria's Bookshop.

The book has been on the Maria's Bookshop Bestseller List for the last two weeks, was selected as a monthly Indie Next pick and has been chosen by multiple local reading groups.

Children's singer to perform at libraries
Singer-songwriter Katherine Dines will present her musical show "Hunk-Ta-Bunk-Ta" in the Program Rooms at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Durango Public Library.

Dines is an award-winning songwriter of children's music who performs throughout the world. Free tickets are required for the program and may be picked up in the Children's Room of the library.

She also will perform her show at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Fort Lewis Mesa Branch of the library and at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Sunnyside Branch.

Film Festival poster contest is now open
The Durango Independent Film Festival is holding a competition for the design of the 2010 festival poster.

The competition is open to everyone in the area. The winner will receive a 2010 DIFF pass. Elements from the poster will be used in art design for DIFF's other design projects in 2010.
