The Seventh Annual Mesa Verde Country Food, Wine and Art Festival will take place Aug. 21-23. The Southwest Colorado event begins with a four-course winemakers' dinner and continues through the weekend with wine tastings, live music and local and regional art displays.

The dinner at Nero's Restaurant in Cortez will feature wood-grilled pizza with lobster and roasted corn; Greek lamb with local greens and shaved Pecorino-Romano cheese; beef briocciole with spinach, mushrooms and roasted tomatoes; and caramelized peach gelato. Each course will be paired with an appropriate Colorado wine.

On Aug. 22 from noon to 5 p.m., the celebration will continue with wine tastings and sales, food, music and art in Cortez City Park. Eleven Colorado wineries will participate, including Guy Drew Vineyards from the Cortez area, as well as Surface Creek Winery, DeBeque Canyon Winery, Whitewater Hills, Mountain View Winery, Colorado Cellars Winery, Two Rivers Winery, Garfield Estates  Winery, Stoney Mesa Winery, Bethlehem Cellars and Bacchus Meadery.

Tickets for the wine-tasting are $15, and are available at The Wine Merchant in Durango. Tickets will be $20 at the gate.  Reservations for the winemakers' dinner ($75/person) may be purchased by calling (970) 565-8227.  For more information, visit www.mesaverdecountry.com.
