There was a slight increase in the number of drunken driving arrests, said Sgt. Gary Parsons, with the Durango Police Department.
"I think, for the most part, it was a pretty good Snowdown weekend, other than people drinking and driving," he said. "They're never going to learn."
Two assaults were reported during the festival, including one that sent a man to the hospital with a broken nose.
The incident occurred about 9:45 p.m. Friday on Main Avenue between College Drive and Seventh Street.
David Roy, who works at San Juan Basin Health Department, said he was walking behind a friend and the friend's girlfriend when the friend's cell phone fell onto the sidewalk.
Roy reached down to pick it up and, as he straightened up, a person unknown to him slugged him in the head. He went to the hospital with a broken nose and a laceration that required two stitches.
An officer across the street witnessed the incident and arrested the suspect, Roy said.
Efforts to obtain the suspect's identity were unsuccessful Tuesday night.
From 5 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Monday there were 37 police reports completed, Parsons said. That was slightly more than a normal weekend, but not by much, Parsons said.
Some of the incidents included two assaults, one shoplifting, three thefts, one motor vehicle theft, four reports of criminal mischief, one assault on a police officer, one report of domestic violence, eight drunken driving arrests, three criminal trespasses and one runaway juvenile.
Over the years, violent crime in Durango has been on the rise with 38 incidents in 2003 compared to 74 incidents in 2007, according to FBI statistics.
