Durango PFLAG chapter to hold meeting Aug. 9
The Durango/Four Corners Chapter of Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 9 at the Planned Parenthood Conference Room, 46 Suttle Drive in Bodo Industrial Park.

It will welcome tips and queries about this month's topic, "Family Reunions Out of the Closet: Coming Out and Keeping Peace."

Class about iPods to be held in Bayfield
A meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Aug. 12 at the Lavenia McCoy Public Library, 395 Bayfield Center Drive in Bayfield.

Participants will learn how to use iTunes or Windows Media Player to download audio files from the Internet and listen to them on their iPod or MP3 player.

Free concert to be held at Bayfield library
The Detroit band "The High Strung" will perform a free concert at 7 p.m. Aug. 13 at the Lavenia McCoy Public Library, 395 Bayfield Center Drive in Bayfield. All ages are welcome.

The band will perform a mix of favorites and new tunes, as well as writing and performing a new song with the help of the audience.

Ignacio to hold meeting on school annexation
The Ignacio Planning Commission will host a public hearing concerning the Ignacio Intermediate School annexation at 6 p.m. Monday in the Town Hall meeting room, 540 Goddard Ave.

The public is invited to attend.

Tickets available for Aug. 15 garden tour
The first annual garden tour sponsored by the Durango High Country Gardeners will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 15. The tour will include 10 gardens in the Animas Valley, such as a cul-de-sac of small-space gardens and three 2- to 5-acre gardens. These gardens include ponds and water features, designed perennial beds, bonsai trees, arbors and trellises, raised beds, berms and terraces, fruit- and nut-bearing trees, butterfly gardens and a working farm that sells cut flowers and various goat cheeses.

Tickets are available now for $10 and may be purchased at Cloudberries, 1019 Main Ave.; Native Roots, 114 County Road 250; and Durango Nursery and Supply, 271 Kaycee Lane.

Tickets also will be available at the door for $12 or the day of the tour at 70 Animosa Circle, 6410 County Road 250 or 2914 County Road 250. Programs and maps will be given at the first stop, 97 Orchard Lane. For more information, call Julie at 749-6364.
