Roger Dean Kimsey Horvath

Former Durango resident Roger Dean Kimsey Horvath died after a two-year battle with lung cancer at his home in Farmington on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009. He was 65.

Mr. Horvath was born to Ross Kimsey and Emma Marie Paulek Kimsey in Durango on Jan. 10, 1944. He graduated from Durango High School in 1961.

On Oct. 5, 1963, he married his high school sweetheart, Elaine Brown, in Farmington. After living in Breen for 32 years, they moved to Farmington in 1995.

He was honored by Rust Tractor Co. and Wagner Equipment in Farmington when he retired after 36 years of service.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Mr. Horvath was preceded in death by his granddaughter Gabrielle Michelle Kimsey.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Elaine Horvath, of Farmington; daughter, Tina Sebestyen, of Bayfield; son, Mark Kimsey, of Durango; mother and stepfather, Emma and John Horvath, of Bloomfield, N.M.; sister, Sandy Campbell, of Durango; half-brother, Roy Horvath, of Breen; three grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Cremation has occurred. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at First Baptist Church of Farmington, at Arrington and Auburn streets. The Rev. Keith Berryman will officiate. Burial will take place afterward at Greenlawn Cemetery in Farmington.
