Students get discount, no dress code

Article Last Updated; Tuesday, November 03, 2009  12:01AM
I would like to thank the Durango community for all its support, and especially the students at Fort Lewis College. In a recent story (Herald, Oct. 25) regarding the upcoming opening of our new Southeast Asian grill and lounge, Golden Triangle, I was misquoted in regard to us targeting young urban professionals who want to avoid college students.

That is absolutely not the case. We welcome everyone. What I, in fact, said was we were contemplating keeping the bar lounge at Golden Triangle open after hours Friday and Saturday nights with a dress code in place to exclude shorts and T-shirts. The purpose for this was to create a more upscale environment unlike the current scene found throughout Durango after hours.

We have decided not do so and will operate Golden Triangle exclusively as a restaurant without dress codes of any nature. I would like to apologize for this misunderstanding and extend an invitation to the student body at Fort Lewis College to come and enjoy the great food at East by Southwest with a 20 percent discount on food and beverage through December with a valid student ID.

Sergio A Verduzco, Durango Editor's note: A correction was published in "Setting it straight," Herald, Oct. 28.
