No untainted visions this week, but Dave Foster (12 rights, four wrongs) from Bayfield narrowly edged the Guru (11-5, 10-6 against the spread) for the Gridiron Green in an upset-filled Week 2.
If the autumn winds speak the truth, there are some more whoppers in store for us this week ...
Sunday
Broncos at Raiders - Tom Cable's Raiders will have all hands on deck for the AFC West-leading Broncos, but Denver's revitalized D should sink them in the bay. Guru: Denver 17-9; Vegas: Broncos by 1.5.
Packers at Rams - Four of the last five St. Louis losses have come by less than four points. The rag-tag Rams snap a
12-game streak in their home opener. Guru: St. Louis 34-28; Vegas: Packers by 7.
49ers at Vikings - Another home debut, this matchup of two 2-0 teams involves the Guru's early season NFC champion favorite. Guess who. Guru: Minnesota 37-23; Vegas: Vikings by 3.
Falcons at Patriots - Boston College product Matt Ryan plays in a homecoming of sorts. The question after last week: Is New England that bad, or are the J-E-T-S that good? Guru: Atlanta
28-25; Vegas: Patriots by 4.
Titans at Jets - Yes, Jets Nation, it was the former. Guru: Tennessee 21-19; Vegas: Jets
by 3.
Chiefs at Eagles - I don't care who plays QB: Kevin Kolb, Donovan McNabb, Jeff Garcia, Michael Vick or Andy Reid, a fired-up Eagles team will defend its honor after a 26-point loss to the Saints last week. Guru: Philadelphia 38-27; Vegas: Off.
Giants at Buccaneers - Cadillac Williams and Derrick Ward take another bite out of the Big Apple against a defense that has allowed 6.7 yards per carry this season. Guru: Tampa Bay 24-12; Vegas: Giants by 7.
Browns at Ravens - Meet the Guru's AFC champion pick, presented to you in September. Hold your applause! Guru: Baltimore 35-0; Vegas: Ravens by 13.
Jaguars at Texans - If the Jags go with their Swiss cheese formation on defense like they did against the Cardinals, they'll get shredded by Andre Johnson and Matt Schaub. Guru: Houston
42-31; Vegas: Texans by 4.
Redskins at Lions - Economic "forecasts" aside, this is probably the first true omen that the recession is over. Honk your American-made horns if you'd like to see the end of a 19-game losing streak in Motor City on Sunday. Guru: Detroit 28-24; Vegas: Redskins by 6.
Bears at Seahawks - Denver is good; Jay Cutler is good. Everybody wins, except Seattle. Guru: Chicago 26-20; Vegas: Bears by 2.
Steelers at Bengals - The Bengals looked horrible at home in Week 1, fantastic at Lambeau in Week 2. What comes next in this sequence? Guru: Pittsburgh
24-13; Vegas: Steelers by 4.
Dolphins at Chargers - The Guru has an inkling these teams are better than their combined 1-3 record suggests. Guru: San Diego 19-17; Vegas: Chargers by 6.
Colts at Cardinals - If you "have to be able to run the football," as countless analysts remind us every week, it may be physically impossible for this game to take place. Guru: Indianapolis 33-31; Vegas: Cardinals by 3.
Monday
Panthers at Cowboys - The Cowboys have won five of their last six meetings, and Dallas fans will get to see the sixth of seven on a screen in high def or in real life in infinite definition, whichever they choose. Guru: Dallas
24-6; Vegas: Cowboys by 9.
